Building on a strong tradition of caring and community support, Royal Columbian Hospital Foundation (RCHF) was established in 1978 to raise funds for the hospital’s first CT Scanner. For more than thirty years, the mission of RCHF has been to raise money to help the hospital save lives, restore health and provide comfort to seriously injured and ill patients of all ages.

Today, RCHF is an independent charitable organization that raises millions of dollars each year to fund major projects, priority equipment needs, facility enhancements, research, education and innovation at RCH.

Thousands of individuals, businesses, community groups and foundations in surrounding communities and across the region provide generous support to help RCHF achieve its vision — to inspire giving and grow funding so patients have access to the best in health care at Royal Columbian Hospital.

Doug Eveneshen, Chair

Doug Eveneshen is the President & CEO of Community Savings Credit Union – a mid-sized credit union with branches in the lower mainland and Victoria. He is a Chartered Professional Accountant / Certified General Accountant and has an Executive MBA from Simon Fraser University. Doug has held senior management positions in retail and commercial lending, corporate cash management and treasury sales with major financial institutions throughout British Columbia and Alberta.

Meldy Harris, Vice-Chair

Meldy Harris is a former teacher and political strategist. For the last 25 years she has worked as a Certified Financial Planner at Sun Life of Canada. Meldy is also a Chartered Financial Consultant in retirement and estate planning, pensions and group benefits, and insurance. She is also a Certified Professional Consultant on Aging.

Steve Osachoff, Treasurer

Steve Osachoff joined RBC Dominion Securities in 2003. He is also a Fellow of the Canadian Securities Institute (FCSI), a Financial Management Advisor (FMA), a Canadian Investment Manager (CIM), and has a certificate in Advanced Investment Advice.

Colin Galinski, Secretary

Colin Galinski practices law through his firm, Galinski Pension and Benefits Law Corporation, providing pension and benefits legal services to plan sponsors, administrators, boards of trustees, labour & employment counsel, bargaining agents, and individuals. Colin is a frequent speaker and writer about legal issues.

Jeff Norris, Foundation President and CEO

Jeff Norris is President and CEO of Royal Columbian Hospital Foundation. His career in non-profit organizations spans two decades and includes experience in health care and post-secondary sectors. In 2013, Jeff was recognized by Business in Vancouver with a “Forty Under 40” Award. He is the recipient of the 2014 Giving Hearts Award for Outstanding Professional Fundraiser by the Vancouver chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals.

Dr. Sukh Brar

Dr. Sukh Brar is an Anesthesiologist and Cardiac Intensive Care Physician at Royal Columbian Hospital, as well as Past-President of the BC Anesthesiologists’ Society. Dr. Brar can be found in the operating room during complex surgical procedures or on the floor of the Cardiac Services Intensive Care Unit to ensure patients get healthier before they can return home to their loved ones. Dr. Brar has helped lead efforts to better manage the supply of blood for critical transfusions as Chair of the hospital’s Blood Conservation Working Group, and he has been the local lead on a Canada-wide trial aiming to revolutionize the management of bleeding in cardiac surgery patients.

Frank Butzelaar

Frank Butzelaar is CEO of Seaspan ULC. He has been with the Washington Companies since 1993. He previously was the President and CEO of Southern Railway of British Columbia. His three daughters were born at Royal Columbian Hospital.

Tom Corsie

Tom Corsie is the Vice President of Real Estate at the Vancouver Fraser Port Authority and is responsible for all matters pertaining to real estate management, engineering, asset maintenance and Canada Place. Tom attended school in his native New Westminster, followed by Simon Fraser University and Douglas College. He has been awarded the designation of Professional Port Manager by the American Association of Port Authorities.

Sharon Domaas, BGS, MED

Sharon Domaas retired after a 35-year career in education as a Teacher, Community School Coordinator and Principal. Her passion for Community Education led her to serve on the BC Association of Community Education as Director and President. She lobbied three Ministers of Education to fund the growth of Community Schools in BC from 23 to 70 schools. Sharon has lived in New Westminster for 35 years. Her three children and four grandchildren were born at RCH.

Larry Kozak

Larry Kozak is Vice President, Business Development with Molecular You Corp. He lives in Vancouver and has also served on the Vancouver General Hospital and the BC Children’s Hospital Foundations.

Erin O’Halloran

Erin O’Halloran has more than 14 years’ experience in the medical device, pharmaceutical, and higher education industries, and currently works as a Therapeutic Specialist with Gilead Sciences. Erin also teaches in the Marketing Department at Douglas College, is a member of the Advisory Council for the Douglas College Marketing Department and also owns her own Sales & Marketing consulting company.

Gary Pooni

Gary Pooni is a New Westminster native and holds a Master’s Degree in Environmental Design (Planning) from the University of Calgary and an Undergraduate Degree in Geography from Simon Fraser University. Gary is an active member of the development community, and a member of the Urban Development Institute. Gary was also awarded a Business in Vancouver “Top Forty under 40” award in 2009.

Farid Rohani

Farid Rohani is President of the Columbia Medical Clinic, a multidisciplinary community healthcare provider based in Metro Vancouver. His business experience also includes the first multi-outlet consumer video chain store group in BC, an automobile parts import and distribution company, real estate development and asset management. Farid has devoted many years to building social, cultural and economic bridges to facilitate the integration of many immigrants into the wider Canadian society.

Dwight Ross

Dwight Ross has been a practising lawyer for more than 40 years. Prior to his legal career he was in the RCMP for eight years, a highlight being his involvement in the RCMP Musical Ride from 1967 to 1968. Dwight has volunteered extensively in support of law and police associations including the Trial Lawyers Association of BC; New Westminster Police Board, Association of BC Police Boards, New Westminster Advisory Planning Committee, New Westminster Gyro Club and the Westminster Club. Dwight’s children and most of his grandchildren were born at RCH.

Dr. William Siu, MD, FRCPC

Dr. William Siu is a radiologist with a subspecialty in neuro and interventional radiology. After completing medical school at University of British Columbia in 1994, he spent a year at Royal Columbian Hospital as an intern and was impressed by the collegial and “can do” atmosphere at RCH. After completing his radiology residency and fellowship subspecialty training at UBC, he was fortunate to return to RCH in 2000 as a staff radiologist.

Norm Taylor

Norm Taylor is Executive Vice President & Managing Director of CBRE Vancouver & Victoria. Born and raised in Toronto, Norm moved to attend the University of British Columbia where he graduated with a BA in 1995, after which he began to work in real estate. Norm lives in North Vancouver with his wife, and together they have three children and a dog.

Rana Vig

Rana Vig is an entrepreneur who has 30 years of business experience, during which time he has helped to launch five business ventures in private industry. In 2010, Rana became involved in publicly traded companies – first as the Executive Vice President at RTN Stealth Software Inc., then as president of Musgrove Minerals Corp, and in 2013, as Chairman and CEO of TSX listed Continental Precious Minerals. Rana is a former chair of British Columbia’s Open Learning Agency, and continues to serve on public company boards and committees.

Position Description

Campaign Manager

As a regional referral centre for cardiac, trauma, neurosciences, high-risk maternity and neonatal intensive care serving a population equal to 1 in 3 British Columbians, Royal Columbian Hospital plays an integral role in caring for many of our province’s sickest and most critically injured. No other centre in BC offers our scope of services, delivered at such a high level.

The provincial government has recently approved a $1.3 billion redevelopment of Royal Columbian. This multi-year, multi-phased project will be one of the most significant investments in healthcare in BC’s history. Royal Columbian Hospital Foundation is seeking a Campaign Manager to be an integral part of our capital campaign to raise funds for this important project.

The Campaign Manager will work closely with the Chief Development Officer to help keep the capital campaign on schedule and to progress with a high level of visibility and momentum. The Campaign Manager will work with the Campaign Cabinet implementing and directing a multi-million dollar campaign.

We are seeking a self-starter who is passionate about donor identification, engagement, cultivation and stewarding relationships to help increase donations from our major gift donors and assist with the redevelopment campaign. This role will focus on identifying new prospects and deepening long-term relationships. In addition, this position will work as part of a team of caring fundraising professionals committed to helping donors meet their philanthropic goals.

This position requires the ability to foster and develop key relationships with prospects, donors, members, volunteers and the wider community.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Assist with overall campaign management and organization including pipelines, prospect tracking, strategy, task assignment and maintenance of timelines
  • Manages a major gift donor portfolio of donors and prospects for the Campaign.
  • Plans, develops and implements strategies for identification, cultivation and solicitation of individual or corporate donors and partners at the 10K level and higher. With a primary focus on donors with potential to make six figure gifts to the Campaign.
  • Develops a strategic pipeline of engagement, focusing on building personal relationships through face-to-face encounters with existing and new donors and prospects ensuring long-term goals are set, monitored and evaluated.
  • Develops proposals and negotiates with corporate executives and representatives for major gift giving of the Campaign.
  • Oversees and provides support for individual major gift donor stewardship activities for the Campaign.
  • Provides opportunities for donors to engage in the work of RCH and enhance the organization’s donor-centered culture.
  • Develops campaign materials.
  • Supports, engages and provides leadership to volunteers in fund development activities as appropriate.
  • Collaborates with the RCHF Team by contributing to the development of solicitation strategies for donors and future prospects to maximize stewardship opportunities and advance the relationship towards a next gift; works closely with the Communications Team in the development of key marketing and fundraising communication tools.
  • Ensures all moves management activities are recorded in Raiser’s Edge accurately and in a timely manner, to ensure quality and consistency within the database.
  • Provides support as needed to the Campaign Cabinet and Foundation Board with regards to solicitations and/or related needs.
