Royal Columbian Hospital Foundation Announces Over $1.1M in Equipment Funding Through Its Annual Special Equipment Funding Program

Royal Columbian Hospital Foundation is thrilled to announce its annual special equipment funding in its ongoing mission to enhance patient care and support medical staff. With the generous contributions of our donors, the Foundation has allocated over $1.1 million in funding for essential equipment through its annual special equipment funding program.

Royal Columbian Hospital (RCH) stands as one of British Columbia's busiest hospitals, catering to a diverse population of over 1.8 million individuals from Burnaby to Boston Bar. As a regional referral centre for critical services such as cardiac care, trauma, neurosciences, high-risk maternity, mental health, and neonatal intensive care, RCH plays a pivotal role in safeguarding the health and well-being of British Columbians.

The Foundation's commitment to excellence in healthcare is unwavering. Since its establishment in 1978, the Foundation has diligently worked to raise funds for vital equipment, starting with the region's first CT scanner. Today, while expanding its scope to encompass various healthcare priorities, the core objective remains the same: to procure essential equipment that enhances patient care and outcomes.

Elevating care through technology is a cornerstone of the Foundation's efforts. Donations from supporters directly contribute to the acquisition of state-of-the-art medical equipment, facilitating cutting-edge treatments, faster diagnostics, and improved patient outcomes.

In 2024, the Foundation's equipment funding program has allocated resources to acquire a diverse range of advanced medical technologies, including equipment like the Artic Sun - Temperature Management System, which plays a pivotal role in patient care, offering targeted temperature management, especially for patients post-arrest. Another critical addition funded by the program is the Philips X3 transport physiological monitors, essential components of our neonatal resuscitation protocol, enabling real-time monitoring of vital signs during life-threatening situations. Furthermore, the foundation has supported the acquisition of a Transonic Flow Probe, aiming to enhance patient care by promptly identifying flow issues, thus reducing the incidence of critical events, mortality rates, and overall hospital stay. These technologies reflect our commitment to advancing patient outcomes and ensuring the highest standards of care.

Other equipment that also received funding include:

· LUCAS - Chest Compression System

· Portable Venue Fit Point of Care Ultrasound Machine

· Physiological Monitors

· Image1 S RUBINA ICG System

· Advanced Laparoscopic Imaging Technology for RCH OR Room

· I "See" U - Ultrasound Machine

· Novus Pulmonary Function Box

· Lokomat - Installation and training
