2019 recipients
- His passion, dedication, and commitment to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit make Dr. Zenon Cieslak an invaluable resource to the Foundation during its work with donors. The neonatologist has helped encourage and steward numerous gifts to the NICU, and he is relied upon to showcase the neonatal team’s successes, which are consistently recognized nationally. Dr. Cieslak has also been instrumental in working with his colleagues to make a significant group contribution to the Foundation’s redevelopment campaign.
- Cardiac care is a key source of inspiration for donors, and cardiologist Dr. Michael Epstein has been a crucial bridge between the Foundation and some of Royal Columbian’s most generous supporters. He has helped connect donors to the work of the hospital on many occasions, leading to a number of significant gifts. Dr. Epstein’s own personal support includes involvement with the annual Chairman’s Circle going back almost two decades.
- Registered nurse Linda Heisler has dedicated countless volunteer hours over several years to ensure the success of the annual Making the Cut Charity Golf Classic. Coming into its 8th year, the event has so far raised a remarkable $350,000 towards the purchase of medical equipment for surgery and trauma care. Linda has been an essential part of the organizing team throughout the history of the fundraiser, helping to attract sponsors and golfers during a series of record-breaking years.
- Trudy Robertson has a passion for education and has made it a central part of her involvement with the Foundation. Through her own personal monthly contributions and during her time on the Foundation’s Education Grant Review Committee, she has encouraged many others at Royal Columbian to pursue professional development opportunities. For more than 25 years, the clinical nurse specialist has also been a leader in nursing, neurosciences and stroke care, serving as a terrific ambassador within and outside of the hospital.
