CN’s Lifesaving Gift: Supporting The Future of Trauma Care at RCH

CN Railway (CN) first supported Royal Columbian Hospital Foundation in 2008, and now, more than a decade later, they have once again reinforced their commitment to emergency care with a gift towards the purchase of a Belmont Rapid Infuser for the new trauma bays in the Jim Pattison Acute Care Tower.

This life-saving device plays a critical role in trauma care, delivering warm transfusions quickly to patients experiencing severe blood loss. For CN, whose employees and pensioners live and work in the community, supporting this essential piece of equipment was a natural choice.

“As our teams are moving on rail and road daily, they subject themselves to the unknowns—and in case of emergency, this device could be what saves them from life or death,” said Tyler Banick, Manager of Stakeholder Relations at CN.

Hearing firsthand from Royal Columbian Hospitals (RCH) emergency and trauma team about the impact of the Belmont Rapid Infuser reinforced CNs decision to invest in this critical piece of technology. The team shared how, in moments of crisis, rapid blood transfusions can mean the difference between life and death, ensuring that patients receive the urgent care they need without delay.

CN is dedicated to helping build safer, more sustainable communities by investing in partnerships with nonprofit organizations across North America. Their generous support ensures that RCHs trauma team has the best tools to provide urgent, high-quality care when it matters most.

The foundation is deeply grateful for CNs continued partnership in strengthening emergency care at RCH. Their commitment helps ensure that the hospital remains equipped to serve the regions growing needs, providing critical, life-saving interventions when every second counts.
