A local fundraising group has made its latest gift to Royal Columbian Hospital in memory of one of its members. The Group of Five and Friends Benevolent Society has donated $4,713.50 to Royal Columbian Hospital Foundation for a vital signs monitor, to be used in the operating room. The gift was made in memory of Shirley Piper, who passed away last year. Her husband, local orthopedic surgeon Dr. Michael Piper and daughter Jordan-Anne joined the Group of Five’s Gerda Suess to visit Royal Columbian Hospital to see the equipment, which measures patients’ temperature, blood pressure, heart rate and more.
