To ensure that the safety of those involved in the Help a Healthcare Hero program, participants must adhere to the following terms and conditions.
- Participants must be 18 years of age or older and competently able to make an informed decision.
- Participants consent to have their contact information shared with their matches.
- Volunteers and healthcare workers with ANY symptoms of infectious or respiratory illness (cold, runny nose, fever, cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, etc…) should not participate in the program. Additionally, volunteers who have been in close contact with anyone displaying these symptoms should not volunteer.
- Participants must confirm that at this time, they do not need to be tested for COVID-19 and will update organizers immediately if they become sick or test positive.
- Volunteers who are personally at risk due to medical conditions, or who are in regular contact with identified vulnerable populations (seniors/elderly) should not participate.
- All volunteers and healthcare workers should minimize contact and practice proper hand hygiene while volunteering. Volunteers and healthcare workers should also practice physical distancing – 2 metres between you and others.
- While these terms and conditions are designed to minimize risk, volunteers and healthcare staff participants must acknowledge that there is a risk of exposure to COVID-19.
- Volunteers and healthcare members should ensure timely responses to each other and understand that changes may occur. As such, both parties will provide as much notice as possible regarding changes to any arranged plans.
- Volunteers will be reimbursed by the healthcare members for any out of pocket expenses as agreed upon.
- Volunteers and healthcare members reserve the right to discontinue the match at any time, for any reason.
