New Westminster, B.C. — {October 16, 2025) — On World Anesthesia Day, Royal Columbian Hospital Foundation is proud to celebrate the exceptional team of anesthesiologists whose expertise supports some of the most complex and critical procedures in British Columbia and whose generosity has made a lasting impact on patient care and innovation.
Over the past decade, anesthesiologists at Royal Columbian Hospital have contributed or pledged nearly $3.5 million in philanthropic support to Royal Columbian Hospital Foundation to advance care, research, and education. Their giving includes significant personal contributions as well as proceeds from fundraising events such as the annual Making the Cut Charity Golf Classic. Members of the department have also given generously of their time, including through service on the Foundation’s Board of Directors and by sharing their expertise in presentations to donors.
A portion of these contributions has been directed to the Anesthesiology Innovation Fund, which helps foster new ideas, enhance professional development, and strengthen clinical excellence within the Department of Anesthesiology and Peri-Operative Medicine.
“The anesthesiologists at Royal Columbian Hospital play an essential role in virtually every area of patient care,” says Jeff Norris, President and CEO, Royal Columbian Hospital Foundation. “Their combined giving over the past decade reflects not only their dedication to their patients, but also their belief in the power of innovation and continuous learning. The Anesthesiology Innovation Fund is a shining example of their leadership and generosity.”
Comprising close to 50 physicians, Royal Columbian’s anesthesiology team provides care across a wide range of specialties, including cardiac surgery, neurosurgery, vascular procedures, trauma, and high-risk maternity care. Their expertise extends to include pain management and critical care, touching nearly every patient in the hospital at some point during their treatment.
“As caregivers, educators, and researchers, our anesthesiology colleagues embody the spirit of excellence that defines Royal Columbian Hospital,” adds Norris. “Their ongoing support through the Foundation ensures that innovation continues to thrive within one of B.C.’s busiest and most advanced hospitals.”
