Thanks to an anonymous group of donors, Royal Columbian Hospital Foundation recently exceeded our $2M Mental Health match. After a successful Giving Tuesday campaign, the donor increased their match from $1.5M to $2M, expanding the impact of the donation for our Mental Health and Substance Use Wellness Centre (MHSUWC).
The MHSUWC serves over 4,000 patients a year and has several specialty clinics unique to Fraser Health including:
· Older Adult Mental Health Unit
· Reproductive Psychiatry Program
· Child and Youth Psychiatry Clinic
· Addictions Medicine and Substance Use Clinic
· Early Psychosis Intervention Program
There continues to be an enormous need for mental health care in BC, and RCH’s MHSUWC is looking to expand existing services, enhance outpatient care, invest in therapeutic programs like music therapy and gardening, as well as continue to address the substance use crisis facing our province.
“I’m honoured because I know how hard [the Foundation] —and everyone in this hospital—work to keep everything running smoothly. The Foundation truly understood our need for support, and I can’t thank them enough. I really appreciate everything they’ve done.” -Dr. Janel Casey, Department Head, Psychiatry, RCH.
Dr. Janel Casey remains a dedicated advocate for advancing mental health services in the region, helping to improve care for those in need.
The Foundation is proud to provide much needed funds for this work and we are incredibly thankful to those who have helped us achieve this milestone of hitting the $2M match.
“Without the support of our generous donors, we wouldn’t be where we are today,” says Jeff Noris, President and CEO of Royal Columbian Hospital Foundation. “The need for mental health care continues to be in huge demand throughout Fraser Health and beyond, and we are grateful to be able to contribute to this life-changing care.”
