Royal Columbian Hospital Foundation is thrilled to announce that this year’s Giving Tuesday campaign has raised an incredible total of $844,764 in support of mental health programs at Royal Columbian Hospital. This total includes a generous $250,000 donation from past board member Rana Vig, which, combined with a matching gift from an anonymous group of donors, brings the total impact to nearly $1,700,000.
“We are beyond grateful for the overwhelming generosity shown by our community leading up to this year’s Giving Tuesday,” said Jeff Norris, President and CEO of the Royal Columbian Hospital Foundation. “Thanks to the incredible support from Rana Vig and our anonymous matching donor, we’ve been able to far exceed our initial fundraising goal of $100,000. These funds will go directly to support mental health programs that are critically needed at Royal Columbian Hospital as we continue to provide compassionate care to those in our community facing mental health challenges.”
The funds raised will directly support mental health initiatives and programs, ensuring Royal Columbian Hospital remains a leader in critical care for British Columbians. The hospital provides comprehensive services, including specialized care for those with mental health and substance use needs. By bolstering these essential services, the Foundation is helping to meet the growing demand for mental health care, especially as the effects of the pandemic continue to be felt by many in the community.
Giving Tuesday, celebrated globally each year following Black Friday and Cyber Monday, encourages people to give back to causes that matter to them. This year’s campaign marked another successful example of how the community’s generosity can come together to make a tangible difference for local healthcare initiatives.
“The response this year has been nothing short of inspiring,” said Jeff Norris. “Mental health is a critical component of overall health, and the Foundation is proud to be able to help support the innovative care being provided at Royal Columbian Hospital. With the backing of donors like Rana Vig and our anonymous match donor, we are truly helping to make a lasting impact on the health and well-being of our community.”
The funds raised will contribute to enhancing services for patients struggling with mental health issues and support initiatives that improve the quality of care provided to individuals and families in need.
