Southern Railway moves full steam ahead with support of RCH

(From left) Southern Railway’s Patrick Fleming, Derek Ollmann, Graham Zucko and Ron Woods present a cheque for $6,000 to Royal Columbian Hospital Foundation President and CEO Adrienne Bakker (left) and Major Gifts Director Barbara Becker in celebration of its 92-day injury-free track record from July 1 through September 30.

The New Westminster-based freight transport company has taken an innovative approach to promoting injury prevention amongst its employees by directly tying its safety performance to donations to Royal Columbian Hospital (RCH) Foundation. Money saved as a result of eliminating  lost time injuries (injuries requiring employee time off for treatment or rehabilitation) is matched by the company and donated to RCH Foundation in support of its $1.5 million Reasons to Care, Reasons to Give campaign that will help RCH fund critically needed equipment throughout the hospital.
