Royal Columbian Hospital Foundation Awards Nearly $2.5M in Equipment Funding

This December, Royal Columbian Hospital Foundation had the immense pleasure of spreading holiday cheer throughout the hospital by awarding nearly $2.5M through the Foundation’s Major Equipment Fund. Departments throughout the hospital received their cheques which will be used to purchase new and improved vital equipment. These improvements wouldn’t be possible without the support of RCHF’s incredible donors who continue to amaze us with their generosity.

“Thank you to the Foundation for this wonderful news,” said Aileen Minhas, Manager of Clinical Operations in the ICU. “We are ever so grateful to the Foundation and our donors. The team is so excited to get their very own, brand new LICOX machines that will have a positive impact on our patients.”

For this round of presentations, the Foundation was able to fund equipment that will be used across RCH including the ER, ICU, Obstetrics, Medical Imaging, and more. Each piece of equipment will help nurses and physicians to serve more patients, more efficiently. While RCH prepares to expand its services into the Jim Pattison Acute Care Tower in late 2025, these upgrades will help improve day-to-day delivery of services in the current facility.

Joanne Soltesz, RCH Medical Imaging Site Coordinator shared, “Thank you so much! We are very honoured to have been selected to receive this funding. The purchase of the mammography unit will improve the care we provide to our patients.”

Royal Columbian Hospital Foundation was founded in 1978 and worked diligently to raise funds for the region’s first CT scanner. As a regional trauma centre, RCH serves more than 1.8 million people throughout the Fraser Health Authority, and demand is only growing. Royal Columbian Hospital is the only hospital in BC with trauma, cardiac, neurosciences, high-risk maternity, and neonatal intensive care on one site.
