A FortisBC employee-run charitable group has offered support to BC’s busiest cardiac care centre.

The Warm Hearts Charitable Foundation has made a $7,500 donation to Royal Columbian Hospital Foundation’s Cardiac Care Campaign. The money raised is helping to upgrade the monitoring and imaging equipment in the hospital’s cardiac cath lab.

Funding from Variety – The Children’s Charity is helping elevate the mood, encourage communication and reduce anxiety for children admitted to Royal Columbian Hospital’s Pediatric Unit.

Those are among the benefits of a music therapist, whose work is being funded by a $20,000 contribution from Variety to Royal Columbian Hospital Foundation.

A further $15,000 grant will help support families from outside the Lower Mainland who face financial hardships because a child or pregnant mother is hospitalized at Royal Columbian.

The Group of Five and Friends Benevolent Society have purchased a pediatric cast saw to help orthopedic surgeon Dr. Shafique Pirani, whose clinic sees hundreds of children annually.
