In loving memory of Dr. Eugene John Chan

Dr. Eugene John Chan
December 21, 1933 – August 15, 2019

Eugene will be lovingly remembered by his wife Donna (nee Yee) of 57 years and their children Sharon (Greg Knight), Shannon (Lori and children Colby & Alyssa), Damon, Leanne (Darren Pedersen and son K.J.) and three Grandogs, Tazzy, Carly & Davos.

Born in Shanghai, China, Eugene overcame early challenges living through the war, a concentration camp and being repatriated to Vancouver, BC all before the age of 11. He went on to graduate from UBC Medical School and then on to his father’s (Guy Hugh Chan) alma mater, Northwestern University in Chicago, to finish his Dermatological Residency.

He was a dedicated patriarch who had a passion for travel, fishing, golf, tennis, bridge and skiing that he passed on and enjoyed with his entire family.

Thank you to Dr John Yap, G.P. and Shafeem Khan “the Butler” for their compassionate care. There will be no service by request, however, a Celebration of Life will be held later this year.
